Carpentaria is a successful exploration company focussed on discovering and developing bulk commodities, base metals and precious metals in eastern Australia. Led by executive chairmen Nick Sheard, previously global exploration manager for INCO and MIM Holdings, Carpentaria has an experienced board and management. The company listed on the ASX in November 2007 and is developing its 1.4 billion tonne Hawsons magnetite deposit that it discovered in 2009, near Broken Hill in western New South Wales. In May, 2011 the Company released a positive prefeasibility study for the project.
The company aims to grow through further discovery, development and acquisition and Carpentaria’s strategy is to build a strong project pipeline of projects, including operating mines, in areas where exploration is low cost and development of discoveries into cash generating mines is potentially rapid. Currently the Company has iron, nickel, tungsten/tin and gold exploration projects including a 1.4 billion tonne iron resource and an 800,000t tungsten resource.
