Ian Lawrence is Managing Director of Cobar Consolidated Resources Limited, a company he listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in July 2006, to explore for base metals near Cobar, New South Wales. The company is currently developing the Wonawinta silver project and expects to be in production by end 2011.
Ian began his career with Western Mining Corporation (WMC) and over a 20 year period, his senior roles included Resident Manager Olympic Dam, Manager Metallurgy Olympic Dam, and General Manager Group Technology. He was also responsible for the design and commissioning of the first carbon-in-pulp gold plant in Kambalda, Western Australia, in 1980.
After leaving WMC he formed RMDSTEM, a professional services firm, providing consulting and contracting services to the resources and technology innovation sectors. He relinquished his role of Managing Director in 2010 to focus on Cobar’s Wonawinta silver project.
He is a past Chairman and member of the CSIRO’s Sector Advisory Committee for the Mineral Processing and Metals Production sector and a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International.
