Jason Bahnsen - Gobi Coal

Jason joined Gobi Coal as CEO in 2010, bringing over 25 years of experience in the resources sector to the role.  Jason began his career as a mining engineer and was involved in the development of several large scale mining projects and the review of major acquisition opportunities for Rio Tinto Limited.

Following 10 years of direct mining industry experience, Jason transitioned into investment banking, joining Deutsche Bank as one of the founding members of the Australian resources corporate finance advisory team.

In 2004, Jason moved to Beijing where he advised on the US$3 billion Hong Kong listing of Shenhua Energy, the largest mining IPO globally at the time.  Jason has also advised on numerous other mining M&A and equity capital market transactions throughout Asia.
