ABOUT YOUR WORKSHOP LEADERS:

Fiona Perrott-Humphrey, Director, AIM Mining Research Ltd

Born in Egoli, South Africa “the City of Gold”, Fiona moved to the UK in 1986 and devoted the next 15 years to working as an investment mining analyst for major financial institutions in the City of London. Prior to this, she spent six years in financial journalism and academia in South Africa. In 2003, Fiona set up her own consultancy so she could continue her favourite aspects of a mining analyst’s job and “dump the less enjoyable aspects of working in the City”. In 2006 she formed AIM Mining Research with ex AngloGoldAshanti C.O.O. David Hodgson and geologists Gordon Wylie,

Peter Mellowship and Jan-Marten Huizenga.

They have published "Understanding Junior Miners" to help investors, fund managers and AIM mining companies understand the specialist geological and mining issues facing early stage juniors in order to interrogate and analyse them. Fiona fits in her consulting work, including two days a week with NM Rothschild, around hiking, gardening and travel. BA(Natal) - MBA(Wits) - DBL(UNISA) Peter Mellowship, Director, AIM Mining Research Ltd Originally from the mining valleys of Wales, geologist Peter Mellowship has been involved in the mineral exploration and mining industries for over 30 years. He has worked on base metal, iron ore, gold and for the last 20 years on PGE deposits, finally as Consulting Geologist for Implats. He was the platinum industry representative on the formulation of the SAMREC Code and designated Competent Person for Implats.

Lawrence Roulston, Editor, Resource Opportunities

Lawrence Roulston is a geologist, with engineering and business training, and more than 20 years of hands-on experience in the resource industry. After completing his studies at the University of British Columbia in 1975, Mr Roulston worked as an analyst for the major mining company Cominco Ltd. He also worked in a management role for several years with a mid-sized Calgary oil group. In 1984 he became the vice-president of a group of mineral exploration companies. He was also vice-president of an investment management firm focused on the resource industry. From 1994 to 1997, he was president and CEO of a mineral exploration company. He began writing Resource Opportunities in 1998.

Andrew J. Vigar, Director, Mining Associates

Andrew has 30 years experience in the minerals industry, from regional exploration to mining but with an emphasis on evaluation and mine work. He has held senior positions with Emperor Gold, WMC, Costain Australia and CRA (Rio Tinto) prior to commencing full-time consulting in 1996. He is a founder and Non-Executive Director of Drummond Gold Limited, a company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.

Prior to establishing Mining Associates in 2003, he spent 5 years with SRK Consulting, the last 2 years as Manager Brisbane office, with an emphasis on Corporate Services for mergers, acquisitions and capital raisings. He was a national council member of the AusIMM in 2000 and Chairman of the International Mine Geology 2000 and 2003 conference committees. He is the past chairman of the AusIMM Geoscience Task Force.
