James Passin

James Passin joined Firebird in 1999. He co-founded and manages the Firebird Global Fund, Firebird Global Fund II and the Firebird Mongolia Fund. He is a former editor at investment newsletter ‘Taipan’. Mr Passin is a graduate of St John’s College, where he majored in philosophy and classical literature. He serves on the board of directors of several Mongolian public and private companies, including Sharyn Gol, Baganuur, BDSec and National Investment Bank of Mongolia. He is also co-founder and director of Hulaan Coal Corporation, a private Canadian firm, focused on coal exploration/production in Mongolia.
