Mining Journal's Outstanding Achievement Awards set out to honour those individuals and organisations who have made a significant contribution to the industry and who stand out from the crowd.

Sponsored by various organisations, the accolades seek to pay tribute to improved mining operations, effective funding, innovative environmental programmes, bravery, charitable work and deals which have captured the industry's imagination.

Presented at a black-tie dinner at Old Billingsgate on December 2, the final night of Mines and Money, the winners, in seven categories, were based on nominations and votes by Mining Journal readers. 

John Humphrys, journalist and broadcaster, who currently presents on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, was this year's host.
