Western Areas’ core asset is the 100% owned Forrestania Nickel Project, located 400km east of Perth. The Forrestania project was previously owned by Outokumpu who operated three nickel mines in the region in the 1990’s. Western Areas has since made two high grade nickel discoveries and is now producing approximately 25,000tpa nickel from the Flying Fox and Spotted Quoll mines at Forrestania. Western Areas is the third largest nickel mining company in Australia. Western Areas is an active nickel explorer in Western Australia, Canada and Finland.
